Happy new year, everyone! I’m currently writing from a farmhouse outside Djúpivogur, the last stop on mine and Kaspars’ itinerary to close out 2018. It has been an incredibly stormy day, with severe weather alerts all over the south and east of Iceland. Most of the roads in the surrounding area have been closed in lieu of 50m/sec winds.
This trip has been a wonderful end to the year and a lovely way to ring in 2019. We were lucky enough to experience a KP7 aurora, several coronae and some great weather. The last two days have been particularly rainy, though we have made up for it by visiting the local swimming pool and spending time indoors cooking.
The new year is already set to be amazing, with my first project being the takeover of Universe Today’s Instagram feed for 24 hours. Universe Today is a non-commercial website for space and astronomy news, so it’s a very exciting opportunity to have my photography of the Northern Lights recognised. If you have some time, then I’d be chuffed if you would follow along over on Instagram with @universetoday.
Enjoy!
