What a whirlwind of a weekend it’s been!
I’m incredibly grateful to GDT (The Society of German Nature Photographers) for inviting me to join the jury for this year’s European Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2025 competition.
Reviewing nearly 25,000 entries alongside a panel of brilliant minds and passionate nature lovers was nothing short of inspiring.
Each image was a window into the wild – a testament to the talent, patience and vision of photographers all across Europe. The sheer diversity of perspectives and storytelling left us in awe.
It was no easy feat to make our selections but it was an absolute joy from start to finish.
A huge thank you to my fellow jurors – Rosamund Kidman Cox (UK), Aaron Gekoski (UK), Agorastos Papatsanis (GR), and Bruno D’Amicis (IT) – for the camaraderie, thoughtful discussions and laughter along the way. The process reminded me once again of the power that photography has when it comes to connecting us with the natural world and to each other.
The winners will be notified beginning May 19th. I’m already looking forward to the big reveal of the awarded images at the International Nature Photography Festival in Lünen on October 24th. Mark your calendars… it’s going to be unforgettable!
Thank you again to GDT for the opportunity. It’s been a huge honour and a privilege to be involved!
