Some days reveal themselves slowly, through small shifts in light or atmosphere rather than clear events. It is within this quiet space that my work appears in VOSTOK 52: An Unknown Day – a South Korean art and photography publication that is produced in Seoul.
VOSTOK is shaped by attentiveness. Each issue unfolds around a single theme, bringing together photography and writing that mirrors our daily experiences. The magazine resists urgency and trend, favouring observation and restraint as it asks only for your time.
Issue 52 turns towards the unfamiliar that can surface within ordinary life. Rather than focusing on dramatic departures and fixed narratives, it takes root in quieter movements… such as a day slipping slightly off course, or a moment that refuses to resolve. It brings together visual and written contributions, including work from Utopia Broadcasting, allowing meaning to surface gradually and without insistence.
Within South Korea’s contemporary photography and art landscape, VOSTOK has become a steady, independent presence, read and collected by those who value printed work as something tactile and enduring. Published in Seoul and available through major booksellers, including Aladin, each issue is approached less as a magazine and more as something to return to.
I’m very grateful to Jisoo Park for the trust and the invitation to contribute to this issue.
VOSTOK 52 is published by Vostok Press and is available through Aladin Books in South Korea.
